This component offers motor planning, balance and vestibular opportunities. Children can take their shoes off and engage in a tactile, sensory experience. Children can jump off the log providing proprioceptive input to their muscles and joints. In a child’s imagination the log border becomes a snake, dinosaur or a magical hideaway. Its open-ended, suggestive nature lends itself to work with the children’s interests.
